Pre-Installation and Installation Check List

Your satisfaction with our products and services is very important to us. The following information is provided to ensure that the installation of your new flooring progresses as smoothly as possible. Please take a moment to review the following list of items, paying attention to those that specifically pertain to your installation. If you have any questions about the information, please contact your salesperson.

  • The Person who will measure your job will show up with-in a two hour window. Your salesperson is not able to set a specific time for this appointment.
  • If you wish to have seams placed in specific locations, please notify your salesperson as soon as possible. You can also share this information with the estimator at the time of the measure. Remember, there is no such thing as an invisible seam. Seam visibility varies with the texture and grade of flooring being installed.
  • Your salesperson will get back to you within a couple days with the bid. Most often it’s within a day.
  • Your Salesperson will work with you to schedule the installation of your floor coverings. Installation times cannot be set for a specific hour, but will be scheduled on an AM or PM basis. Let your salesperson know if you have certain time constraints that must be worked around.
  • If you are unable to be present the day of installation, arrangements should be made to allow the installer access to the site. Please inform your salesman of these arrangements so they can be communicated to the installer.
  • A customer service representative will attempt to contact you at least one day prior to your scheduled installation date to confirm the date and any last minute details.
  • Areas to be installed should be cleared of furniture and appliances before the installer arrives.
  • We suggest you remove all breakable items from walls in areas the installers will be working in.
  • For your protection and ours, if rooms are not cleared before installation, our company cannot be responsible for any damage that might occur directly or indirectly while handling your property. There will be additional charges.
  • If you wish the installer to move the furniture or appliances, please notify your sales person prior to installation. The customer must make their own arrangements for disconnecting and reconnection appliances.
  • Please keep all pets and children out of the areas that installation will be performed.
  • Floors should be cleaned by sweeping or vacuuming prior to installation. If you damp mop the floors, please allow sufficient time for drying before installation.
  • Loose, noisy, or squeaky floors should be repaired before installation.
  • If products are to be glued down, excess waxes on the floors should be removed prior to installation.
  • Should you request take-up of your old, the installer will sweep the floors before the new flooring is installed.
  • If you choose to do your own take-up, make sure you clean the floors up prior to installation. This means removing all staples or adhesive. Do not pull up tack strips if you have them. Installers will replace if needed at no extra charge.
  • Gluing down tacks trip is an extra charge. This may also require and extra day.
  • Installation during cool season, the room temperature must be a minimum of sixty-five degrees. This is necessary for adhesives to properly set up, and for carpet to be pliable enough to install. Sometimes a space heater set out the night before can help keep the temperature where it needs to be.
  • Check with your salesperson to see if molding/base should be removed before installation. Our installers can remove and replace your existing moldings/bases for an additional charge. Although care is taken in removing old moldings, occasionally breakage may occur with older, dry wood moldings. We cannot be responsible for moldings that chip, crack, or break during removal.
  • Due to the stiffness of the carpet backing, it is also possible that the floor moldings and adjacent newly painted walls may become scratched during installation. Our installer will take care in minimizing any of this.
  • After installation, it may be necessary to make arrangements to have doors adjusted or shortened to enable them to close properly. The Installer does not have the equipment to do this work. Please arrange for a qualified carpenter to provide this service.
  • The installer is unable to remove radiators. If it is necessary to remove radiators to allow installation, you or a contractor of your choice must perform this.
  • Most waste materials will be collected and removed from the job site before the installer leaves. With carpet installation, a final vacuuming is performed, but they do not have attachments to do the stairs.
  • If during the process of installation, the installer finds an unforeseen condition or hazard, you will be informed immediately. If there are additional charges or if the installation needs to be delayed, you will be notified of that as well. An unforeseen condition or hazard is a problem that couldn’t have been detected during the estimation process. Examples would be: Mold, or rotten subfloor, or leveling that could not be detected with the previous flooring installed.
  • If there is a balance due on your order, it must be paid to the installer upon completion or you can phone in payment with your Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, or American Express Card. We also accept your personal check or cash payment. Financing is available and can be discussed at time of order with your salesperson.
  • You may also receive a follow-up contact to allow us to determine your level of satisfaction with the products and services you have purchased from us.

We know this was a lot of information, but its here to help make sure your installation process goes as smoothly as possible. Thank you for choosing Seestedt’s!
